Our new donor facility, constructed in the Spring of 2021 offers the highest standard of cow comfort for our client’s animals.
The design of the 100x80 ft barn footprint prioritizes low-stress cattle handling, creating an optimal environment for both livestock and handlers. At the heart of this facility is a climate-controlled chute working area, which ensures the well-being of the cattle during processing. Equipped with 40 cow headlocks, the barn is designed for efficiency, enabling smooth transitions during daily operations. The overhead misting system provides a comfortable climate for the animals, crucial in managing stress levels during the warmer months.
In addition to the chute area, the barn features a dedicated calf creep pen, allowing young calves a safe place to grow and develop while minimizing stress. Individual box stalls ensure animals have their own space, promoting a calm atmosphere. Furthermore, the filtrated water system guarantees access to clean water, while a 24/7 provision of loose minerals supports the nutritional needs of the cattle at all times. The facility also includes five rotational grazing pastures, promoting sustainable grazing practices and allowing the herd to thrive.
To enhance security and oversight, a comprehensive 24-7 surveillance camera system has been integrated into the design, providing peace of mind. The unloading area is strategically planned for convenience, making it easy to maneuver trailers in and out. This barn design combines functionality and animal welfare, paving the way for successful cattle management in a modern agricultural setting.
We utilize our mobile trailer laboratory, a fully equipped 16ft workstation designed specifically for bovine embryology. This innovative facility brings advanced reproductive technologies directly to your location, allowing for increased convenience and efficiency in managing livestock breeding programs. Our mobile laboratory features cutting-edge equipment and a controlled environment, ensuring optimal conditions for handling and processing bovine embryos.
At Genetic Vision's farm, we implement a sustainable rotational grazing system across five pastures. This method not only enhances the health of our soil but also promotes the well-being of our livestock. By rotating our animals through these pastures, we allow each section the necessary time to recover and regenerate after grazing. This approach mimics natural grazing patterns, which helps maintain the ecological balance while preventing overgrazing. By rotating our livestock, we not only prevent overgrazing but also optimize the nutritional content of the forage available to the animals, which in turn supports their overall growth and well-being.
We have invested in a Shade Haven Portable Shade system, complemented by a misting system, designed specifically for our cows during the hot summer months. Cows are particularly susceptible to heat stress, which can impact their health, productivity, and overall comfort. The Shade Haven system provides a substantial area of cool, shaded relief, allowing our cows to escape the harsh sun while still having access to their pasture. Coupled with the misting system and fans we are able to maintain a steady airflow, which helps to dissipate heat and circulate fresh air, ensuring our cows remain cool and comfortable even on the hottest days. By integrating these modern cooling solutions into our farming operations, we are prioritizing animal welfare and aiming to enhance the overall productivity of our herd.
